II. Basic Properties

White, odorless crystals, slightly deliquescent. Triphenyl phosphate (TPP) is readily soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, ether, and acetone, soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in water. It exhibits excellent transparency, flexibility, antibacterial properties, oil and water resistance, good electrical insulation, and good compatibility.

IV. Applications and Usage

Triphenyl phosphate (TPP) can be used as a flame retardant plasticizer for engineering plastics such as nitrocellulose, triacetin thin esters and films, rigid polyurethane foam, phenolic resins, and PPO. It can also be used to increase the plasticity and flowability of plastics during molding and processing. It can also be used as a plasticizer for plastics such as nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, and polyvinyl chloride. It can also be used as a stationary phase for gas chromatography, a plasticizer for cellulose and plastics, and a non-flammable substitute for camphor in celluloid.
